How to give by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay to Making Heaven Crowded

Five preset amounts, one checkout that stays on our site, and no reference code to remember.

The short answer

Pick a preset amount, choose card, and pay on the next screen

To give by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, open the giving page, tap one of the five preset amounts ($25, $50, $100, $250 or $500), enter your details, and choose Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay as the method. The next screen opens a checkout right on the Making Heaven Crowded site with your email already filled in, and you finish the payment there with one tap on your phone or with a card number.

Two things set card apart. It only works at those five amounts, and it does not ask for a reference code, because the checkout already knows who you are.

Before you start

What you need ready

You need a phone or computer, a card or a wallet set up for Apple Pay or Google Pay, and one of the five amounts. Which wallet button appears depends on your device and browser, so do not worry if you see one and not the other. The checkout also takes an ordinary credit or debit card number, which works on any device.

You will type your name, email and mailing address on the giving page before the checkout opens. The address and email are what the receipt is written to, and the email is passed into the checkout automatically, so you will not type it twice.

Step by step

The five steps, in order

  1. Open the giving page and choose an amount. The buttons run $25, $50, $100, $250 and $500, and a short line under each says what that size of gift covers.
  2. If you want the gift to repeat, tick the box that makes it a monthly gift. The monthly section below explains what that does with a card.
  3. Fill in your name, email and mailing address, then continue to the choice of method.
  4. Select Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. On a preset amount it is the second option in the list, described as the fastest checkout, one tap on your phone.
  5. On the next screen, complete the checkout. When it finishes you are taken to a thank-you screen with your gift summary.
Preset amounts

What each preset amount covers

The giving page attaches one line to each preset amount, and card uses exactly these five. A $25 gift is food for a street outreach and the conversations it opens, $50 is an afternoon feeding and praying with people downtown, and $100 is outreach in Tampa and Gainesville on the same day. A $250 gift is Bibles and materials for people taking their first steps, and $500 sends a team out and trains the disciples who go.

Those lines describe what a gift of that size supports, not an itemized purchase. For the totals handed out so far, see the impact numbers page.

Custom amounts

If your amount is not one of the five

Card checkout runs through a fixed-price plan for each preset amount, which is why it cannot take a number you type in yourself. When you enter a custom amount on the giving page, the card option simply does not appear in the list of methods, so nobody ends up at a checkout that would fail.

To give an amount like $75 or $1,000, you have four routes: Zelle, which costs the organization nothing, PayPal, Cash App, or a mailed check. The page on ways to donate sets them side by side.

Fees and receipts

What card costs and what you receive

Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay carry a processing fee. The giving page states that a fee applies without quoting a percentage, so the amount you pay is not quite the amount that reaches the mission. Zelle and a mailed check carry no fee, and the guide to giving by Zelle covers the first of those.

After you pay, the thank-you screen shows a gift summary with your name, address, amount, method and date. For a card gift it is marked pending confirmation and says your payment is processing. The official receipt is emailed to the address you entered once the team confirms the gift, and the guide to your donation receipt and reference code goes through it line by line.

Monthly gifts

Making a card gift repeat

To make a card gift monthly, tick the monthly box on the giving page before you continue and pick one of the preset amounts. After the first gift goes through, the giving page says the team will email you a link to set up the automatic monthly gift. That email is the setup step, so use an address you actually check.

Because a repeating card gift also has to be a preset amount, it is a $25, $50, $100, $250 or $500 gift that repeats. The walk-through of every method is on the page about giving monthly to Making Heaven Crowded.

Staying safe

Check where you are before you pay

The checkout for this method sits inside a giving screen whose address begins with makingheavencrowdedfl.com/give/pay. If you ever land on a payment screen that does not, or one asks for more than any online checkout would, stop and contact the team before paying. Reach us at (941) 718-2867 or Makingheavencrowdedtampa@gmail.com.

To check the organization first, the page on whether a gift is tax-deductible explains how to confirm its 501(c)(3) status independently.

Questions

Giving by card

Can I give any amount by card to Making Heaven Crowded?
No. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay work at the five preset amounts: $25, $50, $100, $250 and $500. If you type a different amount on the giving page, the card option does not appear, and you can give by Zelle, PayPal, Cash App or check instead.
Do I need a reference code when I pay by card?
No. Zelle, Cash App and mailed checks need a code in the memo or note so the team can match the gift, but the card checkout identifies you on its own. Your email is passed into the checkout and the receipt goes to it.
Does Making Heaven Crowded take Apple Pay and Google Pay?
Yes, through the same checkout as cards. Which wallet button you see depends on your device and browser. If neither shows, you can enter a card number instead.
Does a card gift cost the organization a fee?
Yes. A processing fee applies to card, Apple Pay and Google Pay gifts, so the full amount does not reach the mission. Zelle and a mailed check carry no fee.
When do I get my receipt for a card gift?
The thank-you screen shows the gift as pending and says your payment is processing. The official receipt is emailed to the address you entered once the team confirms the gift.
Can I make a card gift monthly?
Yes, at one of the preset amounts. Tick the monthly box before you continue. After the first gift, the team emails you a link to set up the automatic monthly gift.
