Making Heaven Crowded team members together in Tampa, whose outreach also appears on the ministry's Instagram accounts

Reaching people online

Digital ministry & Instagram

Equipped by the Word. Sent into the world. The same mission that sends teams onto the streets of Tampa and Gainesville also runs on Instagram, reaching people our teams may never meet in person.

Reaching people online

Why a street ministry posts online

We believe the Gospel should be proclaimed wherever people are — including online. While social media can be used for harmful purposes, we believe that Jesus Christ can be glorified through digital platforms as well. MHC is committed to using platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and other digital media to reach people who may never encounter our teams in person.

That conviction is why the digital side of MHC is not an afterthought bolted onto the website. It runs alongside the street evangelism happening every week in Tampa and Gainesville, aimed at a simple, stated set of goals rather than growth for its own sake:

  • Share the Gospel
  • Encourage believers
  • Equip disciples
  • Share testimonies
  • Reach people across different age groups and backgrounds
  • Use digital platforms to glorify Jesus Christ

Two branches, two accounts

Follow the team nearest you

Each branch runs its own Instagram, the same way each branch runs its own outreach. The Tampa team posts as @making_.heaven_crowded, and the Gainesville team posts as @making.heaven.crowded.gville. Both carry the same mission and the same tone — they simply document two different cities.

There is no single combined account and no plan to merge the two. A Gainesville college student following along gets Gainesville-specific posts; a Tampa volunteer’s family checking in on the work gets Tampa’s. That keeps each account genuinely useful instead of a feed of two cities neither follower lives in.

Online and in person

A second way in, not a substitute

Nothing about the digital side changes the in-person work. Use media & technology to reach people online is one line in MHC’s stated vision, sitting alongside equip future evangelists and missionaries and expand the work of evangelism throughout florida & beyond. Instagram is simply the platform where that line gets carried out — it was never meant to stand on its own.

For someone who first hears about MHC through a post rather than a conversation on the street, the next step is the same either way: show up to an outreach, send in a prayer request, or simply keep following and sharing. The accounts exist to widen the door, not to replace what happens once someone walks through it. Following and sharing is one of several non-monetary ways to help the mission.

Follow along, or come see it in person

Following and sharing is a real way to support the mission even without joining an outreach. Ready to do both?

Questions

Digital ministry & Instagram

Does Making Heaven Crowded have an Instagram account?
Yes — two. The Tampa team posts as @making_.heaven_crowded and the Gainesville team posts as @making.heaven.crowded.gville. Both are real, active accounts run by each branch, separate from the shared website and giving pages, and both are linked directly from this page.
Why does a street outreach ministry also post online?
MHC believes the Gospel should be proclaimed wherever people are, including online, and is committed to using platforms like Instagram to reach people its teams may never encounter in person. Instagram carries the same mission the Tampa and Gainesville teams carry on foot — it just reaches further.
What does MHC actually post about?
Content tied to the goals behind the digital ministry: sharing the Gospel directly, encouraging believers, equipping disciples, and sharing real testimonies from people the teams have met. It is an extension of the same outreach documented on this site, not a separate marketing effort.
Is the online ministry trying to replace street evangelism?
No. Use media & technology to reach people online sits alongside, not instead of, in-person outreach. Digital media reaches people across different ages and backgrounds who the Tampa and Gainesville teams cannot reach by walking downtown alone — it is one more way to proclaim the Gospel, not a substitute for the relationships built on the street.
How can I follow or support the digital ministry?
Follow either Instagram account, share posts that mean something to you, and reply to or message the team directly if a post leads to a real question. Following and sharing is a genuine way to help the mission reach further, even for someone who cannot join an outreach in person.
