What actually helps someone on the street
The most useful thing you can bring to someone experiencing homelessness in Gainesville is simple: your presence, a genuine conversation, and something practical like food or water. Homelessness can be isolating, and being treated with dignity — being looked at, spoken to, and listened to as a person — matters as much as anything you hand over.

How MHC’s Gainesville outreach works
MHC seeks to reach people from all backgrounds and walks of life, including individuals experiencing homelessness, college students, and people we encounter throughout the streets and communities of Tampa, Gainesville, and beyond. We believe every person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and love.
Our outreach begins with love.
Our Gainesville team walks downtown with food and water, building relationships with people experiencing homelessness and sharing the Gospel along the way. Ways to help, beyond a single conversation
