In October 2025, a couple of buddies and I were at a worship night. God had pressed a scripture and a message on my heart. This scripture was the Great Commission, which says to go and make disciples of all the nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) The part that God really highlighted on my heart was GO. This to us meant, GO OUT of your comfort zone. This meant to us to GO OUT of your way. This meant to us to GO OUT of the culture of the "college experience".
After the worship night (Elevation Worship concert), we were walking away from the stadium and there was a homeless man standing outside of the stadium. Everyone passed him like he was nothing. Everybody looked at him like he was trash. My buddy and I went up and started talking to him. We heard his story and we prayed for him. Words started pouring out of my mouth that really clicked for him. The Holy Spirit had told me to mention something about how his purpose and identity is not in the streets, but in Christ and he looked at me and said, "God didn’t tell you to say that did He?" I said, "Yes, He did".
This was the moment I realized that this is what God has been calling us to do. We procrastinated for a little, but eventually, we decided to go out and serve the homeless. On a Saturday afternoon in late October, we went out and served the city of Tampa. At this time, I was reading 1 Corinthians and Paul kept emphasizing evangelizing and how to do it. Paul tells us to find a common ground. He tells us to build a trust. (1 Corinthians 9:22) So that is what we did. We went to Publix on a Saturday afternoon and bought granola bars, waters and fruit. This is an example of the common ground that Paul was talking about. We walked around downtown Tampa, handed out food, prayed and spread the good news.
From October 2025 all the way to almost February 2026 we have seen God moving in tremendous ways through our group. Our group has grown from 5 volunteers to almost 30 volunteers. Souls have given their lives to Christ. Souls have been miraculously blessed financially. God is moving immeasurably through our mission in downtown Tampa! This mission has gone from giving out food, to planting deep seeds with the INTENT of introducing the lost to a life changing relationship with Jesus. And making disciples. Our mission is more focused on God transforming lost souls into disciples, whether they are the lost souls that we encounter or the volunteers that join our mission.
