Donate items for homeless outreach
You don’t have to walk downtown with our team to help. Practical item donations go straight into what our Tampa and Gainesville outreach teams hand out on the street.
What to bring
Items that make a real difference
Our outreach teams hand out practical, everyday items during each walk through Tampa and Gainesville. The most useful donations tend to be simple and shelf-stable:
- Bottled water — especially important in Florida’s heat
- Ready-to-eat, non-perishable food (granola bars, crackers, canned goods with pull tabs)
- Socks and undergarments, new and unused
- Travel-size hygiene items — soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, wet wipes
- Small first-aid supplies — bandages, antiseptic wipes, sunscreen
- Ziploc bags or backpacks to help someone carry what they receive
Items don’t need to be new (aside from hygiene and undergarments, which should be), but they should be clean and usable. If you’re ever unsure whether something is useful, ask before donating — it saves everyone time and makes sure your gift actually gets used.

Get items to our team
MHC doesn’t run a public donation drop box, so the best way to give items is to reach out first. Email Makingheavencrowdedtampa@gmail.com or call (941) 718-2867 to arrange a drop-off or hand-off with our Tampa or Gainesville team. If a cash gift is easier than gathering items yourself, a financial gift lets us buy exactly what’s needed for the next outreach.
