Help, without giving money

Non-monetary ways to help

Not every gift is financial. Time, prayer, and attention all move the mission forward in Tampa and Gainesville.

Give your time

Join an outreach team

The most direct non-monetary way to help is to show up. MHC runs weekly street outreach in Tampa and Gainesville, carrying food and water downtown and having real conversations. No experience is required, and new volunteers are never sent out alone.

For students specifically, there is college ministry in Tampa and Gainesville. Anyone who wants to be equipped before their first conversation can go through SENT Sessions evangelism training first — it is not required, but it is there for volunteers who want it.

Give your prayer

Pray, even from a distance

Someone who cannot join a street outreach can still carry real weight for the mission through prayer. MHC takes prayer requests from the Tampa and Gainesville teams and prays over every one submitted — it is a genuine part of how the ministry operates, not a token gesture.

Submitting one works the same way volunteering does: a short form, no obligation beyond what someone is actually asking for. Share something you'd like the MHC team to pray over with you.

Give your reach

Follow, share, and talk about it

MHC is committed to using Instagram and digital media to reach people its teams may never meet on the street, through the Tampa account @making_.heaven_crowded and the Gainesville account @making.heaven.crowded.gville. Following and sharing posts genuinely widens that reach.

It costs nothing, and it is exactly the kind of help use media & technology to reach people online depends on — someone has to actually watch, share, and talk about what they see for an online ministry to do anything at all.

None of this is either/or

Mix and match what actually fits

Most volunteers end up doing more than one of these over time. Someone might start by following an Instagram account, decide to submit a prayer request a few weeks later, and eventually show up for a first outreach once a schedule opens up. None of it requires choosing one path and sticking to it forever.

A financial gift is still one of the most direct ways to keep outreach running, and the giving page covers every method MHC accepts. But none of these non-monetary options are a consolation prize for someone who cannot give money — they are real, ongoing parts of how the mission actually operates in Tampa and Gainesville.

Pick the way that fits you

None of these cost money, and all of them are real help.

Questions

Non-monetary ways to help

Can I support Making Heaven Crowded without donating money?
Yes. Volunteering on an outreach team, submitting and committing to pray over a prayer request, and following or sharing MHC's Instagram accounts are all real, non-monetary ways people support the mission every week in Tampa and Gainesville — each one is covered in detail below.
What does volunteering actually involve?
Joining a weekly outreach team in Tampa or Gainesville — walking downtown with food and water, having conversations, and offering prayer. No experience is required, new volunteers go out with experienced team members, and sign-up takes a short form, not an application process.
Does praying for MHC actually count as help?
Yes, genuinely — it isn't a consolation option for people who can't do anything else. Every prayer request submitted through the Tampa or Gainesville form is prayed over by the team, and prayer support sits alongside outreach and training as one of the ways the mission is carried.
How does following MHC on Instagram actually help?
Following, sharing, and engaging with a post genuinely widens who the ministry reaches, even for someone who will never walk a street outreach themselves. MHC is committed to using platforms like Instagram to reach people its in-person teams may never meet, and every share extends that reach further.
Is there a way to help that doesn't involve being on camera or online?
Yes. Submitting a prayer request is entirely private, and plenty of outreach volunteers never appear in a photo or a post. Helping with MHC does not require a public presence — showing up, praying, or simply telling someone else about the work is enough.
